Day 2 begins where we left off at Tintern Old Station and for much of the day’s walk follows the track bed. Some of the line is now in private hands but we will be able to trace the line along the river bank. After crossing the old railway bridge at Redbrook we will continue to Monmouth and the site of Monmouth Troy Station. This was the hub for three railway companies: The Wye Valley Railway (WVR), the Coleford, Monmouth, Usk and Pontypool Railway (CMUPR). And the Ross and Monmouth Railway (R&M).

This walk from Monmouth takes you cross the unique Monnow Bridge and up to high ground taking in the Kymin - a lovely 18th Century roundhouse now converted to a holiday let and Navel Temple, celebrating 16 of Britain’s most famous admirals. The views from here are magnificent and worth the climb. Leaving Wales and into England the walk takes you to the beautiful High Meadow Woods to see The Suck Stone, thought to be the largest single detached boulder in Britain.

We are delighted to offer a tour of St Mary’s Priory Chepstow by the Chepstow Priory Friends. Built in 1071, resting place of Anne Boleyn's lady in waiting and one of Charles I's executioners, and still in use today! We will hear about the history of St Mary's and there will be opportunity for refreshments, chat and relaxation in this magnificent space.

Meet Nell the good witch as she uses her crystal ball to look back at past events in Trellech. She will take us to the old castle tump, the mysterious standing stones and the famous healing well. There are stories and fun to be had for everyone (even the adults) on this short walk around the village.

This is a lovely walk with a real treat at the finish! St Briavels is well known for its medieval castle used by King John of England as a Hunting Lodge and Henry II as an administrative centre of the Forest of Dean, standing high above the River Wye at around 800 feet. The walk takes you through quiet lanes and across open farmland, where you feel on top of the world and at the end (included in the ticket) is tea and cake provided by Angharad of The Preservation Society, winner of many awards for her delicious jams and chutneys. Look out for TPS's Blissfully Blackcurrant Jam, which is not only delicious but also fundraises for Velindre Cancer Centre.

Leaving from The Forest Brewery (micro-brewery) the route goes to Naas House before arriving at the Historic Lydney Harbour. There will be time to have lunch at the cafe located in the Harbour or a packed lunch while viewing items of historical interest. The walk then continues with good views of the bridges in the distance. It then returns across fields to the start where locally produced beers and cider can be tasted.
